It’s best of the week time!  This week we’re celebrating our huge Starts at 60 Marketplace Spring Sale and the launch of World Tourism Week 2021.  So we’re all dreaming of an international destination we’ll visit first when the borders relax!  Drop on over to our Official Starts at 60 Facebook Group and  tell us where you want to go! (Join up if you haven’t already).

Now let’s get onto the BESTS!

Best of the week for Travel at 60

This week we’ve seen a huge resurgence of interest in European travel in the next two years – helped in no small part by some great deals that have recently gone on the market.

Is the Passion Play in Oberammergau on your bucket list? Every decade since the 1600s, this German village has staged an epic full-day performance that draws travellers from all around the world. After a two-year delay, it’s set to return in 2022 – your last chance until 2030!

River cruise enthusiasts also have a LOT to get excited about, with thousands of dollars in savings right now – including the much-loved Budapest-Amsterdam itinerary across Hungary, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. These savings end Thursday. With extremely flexible bookings and “peace of mind” safeguards, now is a great time to start dreaming ahead!

Closer to home, we’ve just announced two new Starts at 60 group getaways: an “Easter in the Outback” trip through Longreach and Winton, and a wonderfully varied Sydney-Adelaide adventure next August that combines the Indian Pacific, the Murray River and Kangaroo Island!

Best of the week for Starts at 60 News and Media

It was a big week for news and media.  Firstly, the Rolling Stones Greatest Songs of All Time list was released with some changes to the songs at the top!  Take a look!

Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Princess Beatrice welcomed her first child, a baby girl bringing a smile to all our royal-lovers faces. Read the full story here

Tributes have been pouring in for former Liberal Party president and Carlton boss John Elliott, who passed away on Thursday. John played an enormous role in both football and politics over many decades.  More on John Elliott’s passing here.

Have you had a tough run since hitting Menopause?  We took a look at 5 of the most common post-menopausal issues women experience and how they can be treated or managed.  We’ve also asked our community members to share their menopause experiences. Read all about it here. And come for a chat about this issue in our Starts at 60 Official Facebook Group here.

Our most popular blog this week was this really funny piece by Mary McGrath on how she’s had to come to terms with her body, including her drooping eyes, lowering voice, ears that are getting bigger and knees like rusty door hinges. So funny! Read it here.

And for a bit of light entertainment enjoy this Tiktok video showing an Aussie Grandmother going viral for her simple laundry hack on how to fold a fitted sheet.
