The Countess of Wessex has impressed royal fans by showing off her cooking skills as she whipped up a delicious batch of cheese and bacon scones on Thursday for charity.

Sophie, who is married to Her Majesty the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, was participating in the Act Your Age challenge in support of Girlguiding, the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women, and which Sophie is president of, and BBC’s charity Children in Need.

The royal family’s official Instagram page shared a video of Sophie hard at work. “Hello,” the mother-of-two, who’s dressed in a white apron with her blonde locks tied back, can be heard saying in the clip. “I’ve been asked to take part in the Girl Guiding ‘Act Your Age’ campaign.

She continued: “Now, I’ve decided to make cheesy scones. Cheese and bacon scones, actually. Which is all very well if you’re 10 years old. I’m not 10 years old! So I’ve got to make 55 cheese and bacon scones. I’m going to get on and make these scones because they’re not going to make themselves.”

A montage of Sophie making the scones then follows, before she pulls out a tray of fresh cheese and scones from the oven. “So that’s 55 cheese and bacon scones, all complete,” she can be heard saying at the end. “They smell amazing. I hope they taste good too!”

Meanwhile, the royal family captioned their post on Instagram: “Watch The Countess of Wessex, President of @GirlGuiding, bake 55 cheese & bacon scones for her #ActYourAge challenge in support of Girlguiding and #ChildreninNeed! @GirlGuiding is partnered with @BBCCiN this year to raise money to support good causes for children and young people across the UK.

“The money raised at this year’s #ChildreninNeed will help to ensure that the dedicated Girl Guiding volunteers can continue to provide weekly meetings (virtually or in person) for young people – giving a much needed break from difficult areas of life, offering fun opportunities to learn new skills and take part in adventure activities.”

Royals fans were quick to praise the countess on her superb baking efforts, with one joking she deserves a place on The Great British Bake Off. Twitter user @servingsophie wrote: “Thank you for sharing! I think a place beckons for The Countess on The Bake Off…”

Meanwhile @su_brompton said the scones looked absolutely delicious, tweeting: “These scones look absolutely delicious, although I’d take the vegetarian option… I love cheese scones.”

And @KaylaAdams___ said she loved having a sneak peak at the countess’ home, commenting: “Absolutely love this, love having a peek into her home too!” While others pleaded for her tasty-looking recipe, with @Scarfie1 tweeting: “We need her recipe!”
