It’s not every day that Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are slammed for their bingo playing skills. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were visiting the Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, Wales on Wednesday when an unimpressed resident casually called out the future king and queen consort.

Earlier this year, the couple had met staff and residents from the same care home via video link and even hosted the weekly bingo session. Resident Joan Drew-Smith, 87, told reporters back in May that the virtual bingo game “wasn’t as good as it should have been”. However, when the royal couple met with Joan in person yesterday, she didn’t hold back.

Prince William said: “Hello Joan, do you remember we did the bingo with you? You said we weren’t very good!”

“Yes,” she replied. “You did a bloody sh***y job.”

The couple, who were briefly taken back, were left in stitches. And it seems royal fans couldn’t get enough either, with one writing: “Joan is hilarious, and I love her!!” While another added: “That was the absolute best!!! Her response was hysterical.”

“Having entertained the Welsh care home as bingo hosts in May, The Duke and Duchess re-visited Shire Hall in person!” Kesington Palace captioned the post. “It was great to see firsthand the amazing work done by staff and families to kept Shire Hall safe throughout lockdown.”

Earlier in the day, the couple visited an amusement arcade on Barry Island. Catherine dressed for the occasion in a beautiful floral blue dress and blush-coloured mask, while Prince William looked smart in a grey sports jacket, a light blue dress shirt and a matching mask.

It comes just one day after Catherine stepped out on her own in Sheffield, United Kingdom. The outing was to help support the most vulnerable families in the UK with Catherine bringing together 19 British brands and retailers to donate over 10,000 new items to more than 40 baby banks across the country.

“Following private visits to Baby Basics West Norfolk where The Duchess heard more about the baby bank’s need for donations, she spearheaded a drive for donations of items for babies from brands and high street retailers,” a statement shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram account read.
