Royal fans were delighted this week when Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank announced they are expecting their first child together early next year, with an adorable photo of a pair of booties on social media.
And now her mother Sarah Ferguson has shared her own message about her excitement of becoming a grandmother for the first time.
The 60-year-old, who shares daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice with the Queen’s youngest son Prince Andrew, took to social media shortly after the announcement to wish them well and declare how thrilled she was for the couple.
Sharing a beautiful photo of her daughter and son-in-law the soon-to-be grandmother wrote: “I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child. Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy.”
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with many grandparents also sharing in the joy of when they welcomed grandchildren into the world the first time, while others said Fergie will be a great grandmother.
“Congratulations! I just became a grandma and it’s a total new kind of love, I can’t even describe it!” @seforamagazine wrote on Instagram.
“Nothing like being a grandmother. No other love tops that it’s a totally different kind of love,” @kathylynny said. While @nigra79 added: “I’m so happy for them both! They are such a wonderful couple! And you will be a great grandma!”
Princess Eugenie first announced the exciting news on Friday, sharing a post on social media for all her fans to see. The young royal simply shared a photo of a cute pair of booties, along with a snap of herself with her husband and wrote: “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…”
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace also confirmed the announcement via their Twitter page, with royal family members sharing their excitement in the pregnancy.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021,” the post read. “The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 at a regal ceremony watched by millions across the world. The baby will be the ninth grandchild for the Queen and Prince Philip.
