As Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, prepares to turn 75 years old on Sunday, July 17, the Duchess has already ticked off a few boxes from her birthday celebration to-do list.

She has already undertaken a whirlwind of public appearances, is set to launch a couple of big projects and has just left her mark as a guest editor of Country Life magazine.

As her birthday draws near, the Duchess has admitted to feeling discomfort regarding her age.

“You know, my mother died when she was 72, so I’ve outlived my mother, which is quite strange,” she said in her special interview with British Vogue

But when it comes to birthdays in general, Camilla prefers to “let them come and go.”

“I mean I’d be very happy to turn back the clock,” she admitted. “When you get to any big number, whether it’s 30, 50, 70, you think: ‘God, that’s so old.’”

However, proving that she’s far from the “old bat” she labels herself, Camilla also opened up about how she keeps up with the latest trends thanks to her close relationship with her grandchildren.

“I do Wordle every day with my granddaughter. She’ll text me to say, ‘I’ve done it in three’, and I say, ‘Sorry, I’ve done it in two today.’ It’s very satisfactory when it tells you how brilliant you are,” she said.

But Camilla does draw the line at taking her grandchildren’s advice to get her ears pierced.

“No, I’m not going to give it to myself as a 75th birthday present. [The grandchildren] will try to persuade me but nothing’s going to pierce my ears,” she revealed.

Instead, the Duchess plans to have a rather intimate affair to mark her special day.

“There won’t be much celebration,” she said. “I shall spend it with my family and a few friends.”

And while no news regarding a public celebration for Camilla’s birthday has been announced, royal watchers and fans of Camilla have been treated to a new documentary, Camilla’s Country Life, Wednesday, July 13, to give audiences a “unique opportunity to gain an insight” into the future Queen Consort‘s life.
