There’s been a lot of talk in recent weeks about whether Nationals MP George Christensen will resign from the party.

Some rumours have pointed him in the direction of One Nation, and now Pauline Hanson has weighed into the debate.

During a wide-ranging interview on the ABC’s Insiders program last night, Senator Hanson had some advice for Christensen about what he should do when it comes to his party.

“I advise him, stay where you are because if he jumps ship it is going to destabilise the Government and I don’t believe the people want that and they would not want that from me,” she said.

“If you are elected to Parliament with a party, that’s what the people voted you in and you should stay with the party.

“If he actually says: ‘No, I’ve had enough and I can’t stay with the National Party and they are not representing my party and what I want’, then of course, if he wants to come across to One Nation I’m not going to say no.”

But George Christensen wasn’t the only topic Senator Hanson discussed.

She told Insiders hosted Barry Cassidy she believed Australians wanted a leader like Russian president Vladmir Putin.

“He is very patriotic towards his country, the people love him, he is doing so well for the country,” she said.

“So many Australians here want that leadership here in Australia.”

It’s a view she has been criticised for in the past, including last month when Labor senator Sam Dastyari slammed her for supporting the man he claimed is responsible for the downing of Malaysian Airlines MH17.

And she also spoke of some pretty strong views about child immunisation.

Senator Hanson accused the government of being a “dictatorship” over child immunisation.

She said the government was “blackmailing” parents by linking immunisation to welfare payments.

“What I don’t like about it is the blackmailing that’s happening with the Government,” she said.

“Don’t do that to people, that’s a dictatorship.”

What do you think about what Pauline Hanson had to say? Do you agree with her?
