Aussie shoppers are being urged to return select chocolate products purchased from retail chain Kmart immediately over fears the treats could be contaminated.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand issued an urgent recall on Friday afternoon of two types of chocolate eggs which are available at Kmart stores right across the country. The store’s Mixed Bag Milk Chocolate Eggs and Caramel Milk Chocolate Eggs have been pulled from shelves due to the potential presence of plastic.
The authority has warned the products – which have a best before date of December 2, 2021 – have the potential of causing injury if consumed and should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“Kmart Australia Ltd is conducting a recall of Solid/Filled Egg Bag 360g and Caramel Egg Bag 160g,” the statement from Food Standards Australia New Zealand said. “The products have been available for sale in Kmart stores and online nationally. Consumers should not eat this product and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
Shoppers seeking further information in regards to the recall have been advised to contact Kmart Australia on 1800 124 125.
