A couple in Brisbane’s south have been left shocked after discovering a two-metre python living in their bathroom drain.

The couple from Tarragindi were all set to call a plumber after their en-suite began to flood, however, after peering into the drain, they were horrified to see a pair of snake eyes glaring back at them.

Professional snake handler Bryce, from Snake Catchers Brisbane and Gold Coast, was called to the Tarragindi property to remove the snake, sharing the experience on the organisation’s Facebook page.

The video shows the moment the snake is pulled from the confines of the drain. In the background, a man is heard saying “okay I’m going to move back a bit,” as Bryce pulls the entire length of the two-metre python from the tiny hole in the bathroom floor. The snake appears healthy and extremely placid as it’s removed.

“This is not what I was expecting but I’m glad it’s okay,” a woman says in the background of the clip.

The incredible video has generated almost 1,000 comments, with many others also concerned for the slithery intruder’s wellbeing.

“Poor bugger was probably relieved someone helped him outta there. Good job,” one person commented.

“Well done, unlike some snake catchers that post up video’s, people can see that most snakes are very placid unless frightened or threatened,” another said.

Serpent haters, however, were quick to say they’d “burn the house down” or move out, with many joking the scenario was “classic” Australia.

‘True fear of mine… I always keep a heavy bath mat over my bathroom floor drain for this reason,” one user shared.

“Guess it’s time to burn my drain pipes now,” one woman wrote. While another said she was “cementing [the] drains up now”.

A host of people also joked the couple were lucky the issue was a snake and not a blocked drain, with one user saying: “Funny part? Calling a snake catcher is usually cheaper than a real plumber.”
