A “numb” father has issued an emotional plea, begging drivers to “please be careful”, after tragically losing three of his children in a horror crash in Oatlands, near Parramatta, on Saturday evening.

Daniel Abdullah spoke to reporters on Sunday morning, after three of his six children – Antony, 13, Angelina, 12, and Sienna Abdullah, nine – were tragically killed when a 4WD vehicle reportedly mounted the kerb and collided with seven children, all of whom are related.

Paying tribute to his children he said: “Antony’s 13, very handsome boy, loved basketball. Angelina, she was my little helper, anything I needed she had my back. And Sienna was my little diva, my little actress. They’ve gone to a better place.”

He added: “Please make sure you love your loved ones, because you don’t know when.”

A fourth child, the daughter of Mr Abdullah’s cousin, was also killed in the crash, which took place shortly before 8pm last night. Three other children remain in hospital, including an 11-year-old boy who is in a serious but stable condition.

New South Wales Police confirmed the tragic news on Saturday evening. In a statement police said the youngsters had been out riding their bikes when they were struck by a Mitsubishi Triton on Bettington Road in Oatlands, near Parramatta.

Four children were pronounced dead at the scene while an 11-year-old boy was rushed to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition. Two girls, aged 10 and 13, were also taken to hospital with non-life threatening and remain in a stable condition.

The driver, 29, has since been charged with a total of 20 offences in relation to the incident and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday). He, along with a 24-year-old passenger, was not harmed in the incident.
