Patti Newton pays tribute to ‘wonderful’ hubby Bert on 46th wedding anniversary

They’re Australia’s golden couple and this week Bert and Patti Newton are celebrating their 46th year of married life together. And to mark the massive anniversary milestone, Patti took to Instagram on Monday to share a gorgeous photo of her and her husband looking better than ever.

In the post, the 75-year-old gushed over her 82-year-old TV legend husband in a sweet tribute that was posted alongside a photo showing the pair sitting together in a warm embrace. The caption read: “46 years with this wonderful man. Happy Anniversary xx”.

Fellow celebrities shared their well wishes for the iconic couple including the host of Channel 10’s morning show Studio 10, Angela Bishop who said: “Happy Anniversary you two. Much love”. While veteran Aussie entertainer Rhonda Burchmore also sent in her kind words as she wrote: “Happy anniversary you magnificent two! We love you”.

Meanwhile, fans of the couple also chimed in with their messages of support with one even saying they remember the day the pair was married as they wrote: “I can still quite vividly recall your most memorable wedding day……quite the crowd!!! Lovely family & my Lauren & Matt have given you so much joy with 6 grandchildren. You’re a beautiful family.”

While another said: “Happy anniversary pat and Bert and many more to come with good health always beautiful couple xx”.

Never ones to shy away from the spotlight, Patti recently starred in Channel Seven’s racy new show The All New Monty: Guys and Gals where she stripped off for charity. At the time of filming, Patti actually revealed that her reason for taking part in the show was for her husband’s family.

She said that her sister-in-law’s death from breast cancer in the 1970s, just a year after the Patti and Bert tied the knot, became the reason she agreed to do the program adding that the loss was “so devastating for Bert”.

“Alice was the sort of person that if she thought her tragedy was going to help somebody else, then she would be more than pleased,” she said. “So, my performance is dedicated to the beautiful Alice Newton.”
