Congratulations are in order for sporting legends Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny after their youngest daughter Morgan Gruell gave birth to a little boy. Morgan and husband Ryan Gruell are already parents to two-year-old Flynn.
Lisa, 58, shared the happy news on social media on Sunday afternoon alongside a series of photographs of her new baby grandson, Taj Grant Gruell. The first photo shows baby Taj sleeping soundly while grandma Lisa holds onto his little hands, while the other images show the Aussie icon posing happily alongside her new grandson.
“IT’S A BOY,” Lisa wrote on Instagram. “Taj Grant Gruell arrived safely into this world last Thursday, 5th November 2020, 8lb 4oz (for the oldies like me who can relate better to pounds!!) A beautiful second son for my Morgan and Ryan and little bro for Flynn… baby spam coming. Congratulations Morgan, Ryan and Flynn xxxxxx”
Followers of Lisa were quick to comment on the beautiful photos, with many congratulating the former Olympian swimmer on becoming a grandmother for the second time. “Congratulations to you all, he’s very cute,” one commenter wrote.
Another added: “Congratulations Lisa and family, he is just gorgeous, enjoy the bubby [sic] cuddles!” While a third wrote: “Congratulations! Taj is just gorgeous!”
Last month, Lisa shared a photo of the family at Morgan’s baby shower. “Nearly ready to be a granny, pa, gigi and opa again,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Beautiful afternoon for a baby shower with a beautiful couple. Will baby be pink or blue?”
The news comes almost two months after Lisa and Grant’s eldest daughter Jaimi passed away at the age of 33, following a battle with a long-term illness. Lisa confirmed her “beautiful and kind” daughter’s death in a moving tribute posted to Instagram in September.
“Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,” she wrote at the time. “So loved. So beautiful. So kind to everyone. So painful. I can barely breathe.”
Lisa penned the gut-wrenching post just one day after Jaimi’s death and described her first-born child as a “caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself”.
“Her love of flowers, cooking, art, decorating, photography, babies, the beach, and helping others will always be remembered,” she added. “Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child.”
