With type 2 diabetes, the pancreas makes some insulin but it is not produced in the amount your body needs and it does not work effectively.  It is an incurable disease attributable to a combination of lifestyle and genetic issues.

Hanks said on TV that he has chosen to live with the disease rather than lose weight dramatically.

“It’s controllable through diet. My doctor said, ‘If you can weigh what you weighed in high school, you’ll essentially be completely healthy and not have type 2 diabetes.’

“And I said, ‘Well, I’m going to have type 2 diabetes then.'”

Tom Hanks has over the years been famous for his ability to lose and gain weight according to the requirements of his on screen Characters.  For the highly acclaimed movie Cast Away he apparently lost 25kg.

Have you been told you might have pre diabetes symptoms or even Diabetes 2?  Did you opt to lose the weight or live with the disease?
