Comfy and stylish: Loungewear essentials you can dress up or down

Jul 22, 2021
Here's how to do loungewear right!

Loungewear became a wardrobe staple for many during 2020 while the coronavirus pandemic raged on, but the new trend isn’t going away anytime soon. While loungewear used to be worn only at home or to the gym, people are now introducing pieces into their everyday wear. If you have yet to jump on the loungewear bandwagon and are a bit unsure on how to do so, read on, as we’ve brought together our favourite loungewear pieces from the Marketplace and included some style tips!

Lounge pants

When it comes to the elevated loungewear trend, pants are a good place to start and, depending on what you pair them with, you can dress them up or down. The good news is, we stock a variety of lounge pants, from stylish track pants to slouchy everyday pants, on our Marketplace.

If you’re not too keen on wearing ‘trackies’ while doing your weekly groceries or running errands, these navy lounge pants (pictured below) by Australian clothing brand Goondiwindi Cotton may be of interest. The pant, which is made from 98 per cent cotton and 2 per cent Spandex, is a relaxed fit with a leg that’s tapered towards the ankle.

For a casual look, we’d recommend pairing it with a basic white tee (like this one from Anto Apparel) and a pair of white sneakers (such as this stylish pair from Tesselli). For a more dressed-up look, we’d recommend adding a cardigan, such as this white, cropped version from Cordelia St over the top, a statement necklace (you can find a variety of necklaces here) and swap the white sneakers for a pair of wedges (check out these wedges from Bueno Shoes here).

Other lounge pants we stock on the Marketplace include these jogger pants from Brisbane-based women’s fashion label Adrift. They come in a variety of colours and patterns, such as French stripe (pictured below), nautical stripe, black, navy, sage and pink. These are perfect for lounging around the house or nipping out to the shops.

Other options include these bamboo pants from Bamboo Body (pictured below) and these tracksuit pants from Anto Apparel, which come in a soft pink or blue.

If you prefer to wear shorts, we have these lounge shorts from Anto Apparel (pictured below) for sale as well. They come in the same soft pink and blue as the tracksuit pants.

Lounge tops

On the hunt for tops to match your loungewear bottoms? We’ve got you covered. The Laura Knit Jumper by Anto Apparel is the perfect off-duty wardrobe staple. It comes in a variety of colours, such as black, grey marle and oatmeal.

If you’re after something with a bit more pizazz, the Kendra Zip Sweater (pictured below) by the same label may also be of interest. The jumper, which comes in soft pink or blue, features a gold zip with top-stitch detail. Pair it with the Karly Joggers for a relaxed look or with the Cotton Track Pants for something a bit more dressy.

If you prefer layering, the Cotton Zip Cardigan (pictured below) is for you, as it features a front zip. It comes in a variety of colours, such as cloud blue, navy, washed denim and pink.

Layer the Cotton Zip Cardigan with Pure Comfort Tencel Modal Tanks by Bella Bodies. The best part about these tanks is that the straps are thicker and the fabric is super soft. You can pick them up in a variety of colours, such as black, lemon, navy, sea jade, blue and white.
