I love a good curry, and this lentil and chickpea curry is an easy and delicious meat-free, gluten-free meal you can make. There are fewer than 10 ingredients and you’ll have everything coming together in two simple steps.

What’s great about this dish is how flavoursome it is. It’s also filling and satisfying.

You could serve this lentil and chickpea curry as it is, or dress it up with a bit of rice, quinoa and/or naan.

Serves 6-8.


  • 1/2 cup lentils
  • 400g tin chickpeas
  • 2x 400g tins coconut milk
  • 6 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tbsp yellow curry paste
  • 1 onion


  1. Heat a large casserole dish. Use coconut oil or vegetable broth and fry onions and garlic for 3 minutes or until translucent. Add coconut milk, lentils and curry paste. Cook for 20 minutes. At the 15-minute mark, add chickpeas.
  2. Serve into bowls.
