4 iced teas to keep you cool

With a heatwave coming across the East of Australia, it’s time to cool down. Try one of these yummy little recipes!

Wild Berry Iced Tea

Serves 1 pitcher.

Ingredients

  • 2L water
  • 5 teabags of berry tea
  • 4 tablespoons lime juice
  • 300g frozen berries
  • 1 tray ice cubes
  • 2 limes, sliced

Method

  1. Boil the water and pour the tea in a large pitcher – steep the tea, remove the teabags and let it cool off
  2. Sweeten with date syrup
  3. Add the frozen berries, lime juice, limes in slices and ice cubes and enjoy cold.

Iced Lemon Tea

Serves 1 pitcher.

Ingredients

  • 2L water
  • 5 tea bags
  • 1L sparkling water
  • 2 lemons juiced
  • 5 tablespoons raw sugar

Method

  1. Place the tea bags in a 4 L heatproof glass bowl.
  2. Boil the water and pour it over the tea bags.
  3. Add the sugar.
  4. Add the lemon juice to the tea.
  5. Let the tea steep for an hour or so.
  6. Add the sparkling water.
  7. Bottle and place in refrigerator to cool.
  8. Serve over crushed ice or ice cubes.

Iced Lychee Tea

Serves 1 pitcher.

Ingredients

  • 2 L boiling water
  • 4 lemon and ginger tea bags
  • 4 peach and mango tea bags
  • 1 apple juice, to serve

Method

  1. Pour boiling water into a glass jug.
  2. Add all the tea bags.
  3. Leave to soak in the boiling water for 30 minutes, gently stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove tea bags, pour into a serving jug and refrigerate until well chilled.
  5. To serve add ½ quantity of apple juice to ½ quantity of tea mix.
  6. Garnish with a lemon twist on the side.

Peach and Melon Iced Tea

Serves 1 pitcher.

Ingredients

  • 2L water
  • 4 teabags ginger turmeric tea
  • 2 lemons, 1 juiced, 1 sliced
  • 3  peaches
  • 2-3 twigs fresh mint
  • 1/2 melon of choice, balled
  • 200 ml (1 cup) water
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup 
  • 1 tray ice cubes

Method

  1. Boil the water and pour the tea in a large pitcher – steep the tea, remove the teabags and let it cool off
  2. Finely chop the peaches and melon, put them in a pot and let them boil up with water and maple syrup, slightly mash the fruits.
  3. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, then sieve it and let it cool off
  4. Pour the cooled off syrup to the tea, add juice of 1 lemon, mint, 1 sliced peach, melon and ice cubes
  5. If required add some more maple syrup – enjoy cold!
