The trailer opens with the voiceover of the infamous ‘Lady Whistledown’, the scandalous secret author who regularly exposes the going-ons of the competitive world of Regency London in her column. At the end of season one, we discovered that she was none other than Penelope Featherington, the youngest daughter of the Featherington family and best friend to Eloise Bridgerton. The news came as a huge shock to viewers who were enthralled in the mystery of who exactly was behind the alias of Lady Whistledown.

“Dearest gentle readers…did you miss me?” she says.

“As the members of my ton questioned by identity and means, this author has been doing but one thing… Honing my skills.”

“No, even better, I’ve been sharpening my knives…For all of you.”

Featuring breathtaking royal sceneries, elegant settings and truly beguiling costumes, Bridgerton season two is set to be one of the most enchanting Netflix series’ to date. The new season will move its previous spotlight from Daphne Bridgerton and her romance with the Duke of Hastings, to focus on her eldest brother, Sir Anthony Bridgerton and his new love affair – or ‘affairs’ as such.

At the end of season one, Anthony declared to sister Daphne and her husband Simon that he would no longer dabble in the realms of love after experiencing a rather rocky love affair with a commoner woman and having his heart broken in the process.

“I’ve finally determined the difficulty – love itself,” Anthony says. “Removing it from all romantic relations shall make me all the better for it. No more distractions from responsibility or being waylaid from the sensible path.”

Season two will see Anthony finally find a suitable love match after being in a complicated, not so respectable relationship with opera singer Sienna Rosso in the previous season. He has now found himself a Viscountess by the name of Miss Edwina Sharma, who he intends to marry, however, his affections lie elsewhere … That ‘elsewhere’ being with Edwina’s protective elder sister, Kate. And if that wasn’t the only problem, Anthony and Kate happen to despise each other – or at least that’s what they pretend.

As the season progresses, the pair will form a passionate but improper relationship which will see exciting new drama and dilemmas take over the upcoming sequel, as the trailer eludes.

In the words of Lady Whistledown, “All is fair in love and war”.

Stay tuned for Bridgerton‘s official Netflix return on March 25, 2022.
