Recognised for its warm, earthy, slightly fruity aroma, Patchouli is well known for its grounding and balancing properties.
A strong, warm, earthy and slightly fruity aroma, Patchouli stems from a flowering herb in the Lamiaceae (mint) family.
Originating in the warmer climes of Asia, the plant yields a notably potent oil, and is well known for its grounding and balancing properties.
Patchouli has been used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. It also became very popular during the ’60s and 70’s when hippies would wear this oil as a perfume or aftershave.
Today, many customers ask for Patchouli, as it takes them back to their youth and evokes memories of times gone by.
This earthy essential oil is unique to a lot of others on the market in that, just like fine wine, it improves with age. Over time, its colour will deepen, the aroma will intensify and its medicinal qualities will enhance.
Therapeutically, Patchouli works to relieve tension and anxiety as well as provide nourishment to dry and irritated skin. It can also be particularly helpful with insect bites.
The grounding, soothing properties of this oil also help to quieten the mind, making it a popular choice in meditation and sleep aid.

HOW TO USE
Patchouli blends well with most essential oils. We particularly like combining it with Sandalwood and Frankincense for creating a deep grounding effect. It is also often blended with Ylang Ylang as an aphrodisiac for rekindling a jaded relationship.
– Diffuse a few drops leading up to bedtime to encourage restful sleep Combine with your regular moisturiser to supercharge hydration
– Apply a small amount to your bed sheets, pillow or towels to perfume and freshen common rooms
– Apply one drop of Patchouli directly to mosquitos or other insect bites to help alleviate the sting and itch
