This Loire Valley estate dates back to 1677 – woah! That’s a jaw-dropping thirteen generations of winemaking history and expertise, the results of which are obvious in their wonderful wines. Most of their vineyards are in Pouilly-Fumé, except for this one which is on the other side of the river in Sancerre. This is the homeland and beating heart of sauvignon blanc. If you are not yet impressed, the wine will no doubt get you there. It’s ripe and medium-bodied, full of fruit and minerality. The fruit spectrum ranges from stone fruit to fresh green apple, and pretty white flowers abound. Although the wine doesn’t see any oak, there is a bit of lees work, resulting in a great texture.
