Twelve surprising ways to use vaseline

The iconic tub of petroleum jelly, Vaseline, is sold at drug stores everywhere and is one of the cheapest products on the shelves. It may look a bit plain and boring, but is known for its infinite number of uses. Here, we list twelve of our all time favourite ways to use vaseline.

Vaseline

Lip balm. Famous for its ability to moisturise, Vaseline is great for a quick spread on the lips without the grease.

Longer lasting perfume. Take a little bit of Vaseline and apply it before a spritz of perfume to help the scent last much longer. Longer lasting perfume and moisturised skin? Two great perks from a tiny dab of jelly!

Longer, fuller eye lashes. Always wanted longer and thicker eyelashes? Put a coat on your eyelashes before you go to bed, to make your lashes grow longer and thinking over time.

Stain remover. The biggest household use for Vaseline is that it’s great at removing stains. Remove make up or dried paint stains from clothing with a little dab of jelly.

Skin softener. Put a coat on Vaseline on your feet at night and wake up with softer feet. Alternatively, keep a little tub in your bag for an instant surge of moisture.

Make up remover. Smear a tiny bit of Vaseline to easily remove tough bronzers, long-lasting eyeliners and false eyelash glue.

Hair conditioner. Rub Vaseline into your hair after a hot shower to protect against harmful hair dyeing, perming and straightening chemicals.

Body scrub. Simply mix a cup of sea salt or brown sugar to a large tub of Vaseline to create your own cheap and effective body scrub. Use it to exfoliate and moisturise at the same time!

Household lubricant. Smear vaseline on squeaky doors or hinges to stop the annoying noise! refresh it monthly and you’ll never hear another annoying noise again.

Ring remover. If you can’t get your ring off your finger (especially because fingers swell on these long, hot days!) dab some vaseline around the ring and rub in and around it. The ring should eventually ease off.

Stop wax sticking to candle holders. By rubbing candle holders with a little vaseline prior to intaling the candle, you will prevent wax sticking to the holder and building up an untidy residue.

Hair-dye stain deterrent. If you colour your hair at home, dab some vaseline on your face, around your hairline to prevent the dye from staining your skin.

Vaseline is, without a doubt, a versatile product and a must-have in any house.
