Facial fuzz annoying you? Here are 6 natural ways to get rid of it

Those hairs can be a pain to get rid of.

Almost very woman deals with some form of unwanted facial hair at some time or other.

This could be those annoying dark hairs that spring from moles and freckles, maybe a light ‘moustache’, or the downy fuzz that appears as you get older. If you’re not keen on the pain of waxing or the smell of depilatory creams, however, tweezing may feel like the only way to go.

Not so! There are natural solutions you can use to keep facial hair in check. They’re a useful alternative to expensive salon treatments, and they’ll nourish your skin as well as remove facial hair.

1. Papaya/paw paw and turmeric

Paw paw is not only delicious but also contains enzymes that break down hair follicles, as well as preventing new hairs from popping up.

Adding some turmeric to your paw paw will make it more effective by stabilising the compounds within and further preventing regrowth. You can use a mashed up mixture to rid hair from your chin, upper lip, sideburns and any other areas you have unwanted hair.

2. Homemade facial wax

Waxing is a popular method for getting rid of unwanted hair all over the body. Waxing works by pulling the follicle out by the root, which usually hurts, but the good news is that regular waxing results in less and less hair growing back over time. Waxing also ensures you see no regrowth for 1-3 months.

An easy wax solution can be made by pouring two tablespoons of sugar, a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of water in a microwavable bowl.

Put the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds. Use the wax on any problem areas, as you would a store-bought wax.

3. Egg white mask

Filled with good proteins, eggs are great for your skin! Apply egg whites to your face and wait until they harden. Then rip off the solidified egg white film to remove unwanted facial hair.

Eggs also provide the skin with nutrients that are integral to producing collagen and attaining a more youthful look.

4. Molasses wax

Make this handy wax by pouring one cup of sugar into a microwave bowl and just enough molasses to cover the sugar.

Make a paste and cook in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes, until the sugar dissolves.

When the mixture has cooled slightly, add the juice of half a lemon and then stir to finish off the wax.

5.Potato and lentil mask

Soak one cup of yellow lentils in water overnight, then crush them into a paste.

Peel three potatoes and blend them in a food processor. Extract the potato juice using a sieve and mix it in to the lentil paste. Add a tablespoon of honey and four tablespoons of lemon juice, then stir.

This mask can be applied to the face for 20 minutes. Once dry, remove the mask with your hands to reveal a hair-free face.

The natural chemicals in the potato juice also work as bleaching agent, so any hairs that are left over will be much more fair and so difficult to see.

6.Sugaring

For those with sensitive skin, this is a great option. Put a quarter cup of water in a saucepan and switch on medium.

Once hot, add 2 cups of sugar and quarter cup of lemon juice. Heat mixture until it bubbles, then let it simmer until it turns amber in colour. Let it cool slightly and apply baby powder to your skin to prevent the mixture from attaching to your skin.

Apply in the opposite direction of the hair and place a cloth on top. After a few minutes use the cloth to rip off the mixture.

Next time you find a sneaky hair pop up, try these methods and see which one works best for you.

The natural ingredients in these masks, treatments, and scrubs are likely to be a lot less damaging than more commercial hair removal creams.
