The lifehack that will keep things cleaner in your kitchen

The kitchen bin can be rather unpleasant at the best of times.

The kitchen bin isn’t the most pleasant thing in your house to deal with (nor write about!), but there’s no denying it’s an essential.

When you think of the things that end up in there, from food waste, packaging, and other types of waste, well, you want your bin to work well.

And not, for example, spill its contents as you’re trying to change the bag.

Or, as another example, have the bag collapse inwards right as you’re scraping in that gross, smelly container full of (what you assume once was) food you found in the back of the fridge. It’s really not ideal.

Luckily, this little trick will help to keep your bag in place, to avoid nasty incidents like the above, and hopefully save you from doing more cleaning than is absolutely necessary.

All you need is a couple of those little stick on plastic hooks (like the ones that you can hang pictures with without marking the wall.

This works best with bin bags or liners that have loop handles, and is especially great if you use your supermarket plastic bags as bin liners.

Simply stick the hooks, upside down, to the sides of the bin according to the instructions on the packet, and then loop the bag handles around them. They will stay in place, and ensure everything goes in the bag.

As for changing the bag and remembering to clean out the back of the fridge? Well, that one’s on you!

Do you have any little tricks you use to make things easier around the house?
