Your hands are one of the body parts that can betray your age first. 

There are lots of things that can affect the skin on your hands too; the work (or play) you do, the weather and your health.

Why not try these easy homemade remedies to stop the hands of time.

Gardening hands remedy

This simple remedy will not only help remove garden grime it will soften your hands too.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • Sugar

Method

Rub olive oil over your hands.

Pour a handful of sugar into one hand.

Rub hands together.

Rinse thoroughly.

Cuticle cream

Prevent sore bits and split cuticles.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lanolin
  • 1 teaspoon honey (clear)
  • 1 teaspoon apricot kernel oil

Method

Mix all ingredients together and blend well.

Store in a sealable bottle.

Soak fingertips in hot soapy water for ten minutes, then dry thoroughly.

Paint cuticle cream around nails with a small brush or cotton bud.

Push back cuticles and leave cream to dry.

Hand lotion

This simple solution will keep your hands feeling soft and supple no matter what you’ve been doing to them. It works best if applied regularly.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon glycerine

Method

Mix all ingredients well.

Store in a sealable bottle.

If you prefer a difference scent add your own essential oils, rosewater or even a dash of your favourite perfume.
