The beauty product Princess Diana was told to stop wearing

She was Diana, Princess of Wales, but was known for being much more than that.

Despite all her charity work, she was still often talked about for her style; her dress sense and impeccable make-up.

Yet it is one of her early make-up favourite looks that she was told she needed to stop wearing, because it was deemed not appropriate for her status.

Make-up artist Mary Greenwell told Yahoo Beauty that Diana trusted her insights and she encouraged her to give up the bold look for softer hues.

“I think beiges and browns are just so much prettier. Simple as that,” Mary Greenwell told Yahoo Beauty.

“I think dramatic change is not really something for somebody who’s in the White House or in office or in a royal family, as it’s just not really appropriate.”

It didn’t stop the princess playing heavy on her make-up when needed.

“She loved to exaggerate her gorgeous eyes and wear loads of mascara.”

Greenwell said the princess loved her make-up and experimenting.

“It wasn’t to the point of going from green eyeshadow to blue eyeshadow, but just experimenting with ways to bring her eyes out more. It was just much more about really getting her to look absolutely beautiful all the time.”
