She’s known as the Duchess of York, but Sarah Ferguson was all about Texas at a seriously glam charity event in Dallas last week.
The 58-year-old, who many know as Fergie, was in America as a very special guest for a UNICEF Gala, aimed at raising much-needed funds for children in need.
The charity helps more than 190 nations and territories around the world, with a particular focus on children. Recently, funds raised have helped kids in Houston and Puerto Rico, following a series of deadly natural disasters. Some 370 guests packed the glamorous Ritz-Carlton in the Texan city on Friday, but it’s fair to say that Fergie captured most of the attention with her lavish gown.
Always one to make a fashion statement, the mother-of-two opted for a gorgeous red number for the evening. The floor-length gown was fitted around the waist and fell gently to the floor.
She topped off her look with a few gorgeous gold bracelets on each arm and a simple pair of earrings.
Her latest outing comes after various reports debating whether or not she will attend the upcoming wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. While some 600 people are said to be attending the nuptials, The Sun reported at the weekend that Sarah wouldn’t be part of the festivities.
“The Duchess of York is not invited to Harry’s wedding,” the royal source explained. They claimed that she “wasn’t happy” with the news and was told to “keep a low profile” in the lead-up to the wedding between her daughter, Princess Eugenie, and her long-time partner, Jack Brooksbank.
Other reports suggested that Prince Harry really did want his aunty to be involved in his big day in some way or another. While she may not actually witness the moment her nephew says “I Do”, People Magazine reports that she will at least attend the lavish reception. “Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie are very close, and therefore I wouldn’t be surprised to see her welcomed back into the family fold for at least part of the wedding,” royal reporter Imogen Lloyd Webber told the publication.
It’s no secret that Fergie hasn’t been on good terms with many members of the royal family since she split from Prince Andrew. She’s been caught in a series of public gaffes, most notably when she was caught by The Sun trying to sell face-to-face time with Prince Andrew for large amounts of cash.
Time will tell if the Duchess really does snag a seat at the most anticipated wedding of the year. Meanwhile, she’s got plenty of charity work and her own daughter’s wedding to keep her busy.
