Queen Letizia rocks Jackie O-style suit at awards night
Queen Letizia is no stranger to the pages of fashion magazines around the world, but the Spanish royal shunned her daring looks of the past for an awards show in Valencia on Monday, opting instead for a classic Jackie O-style suit.
Letizia attended the ‘Rey Jaime I’ awards at Lonja de los Mercaderes with her husband King Felipe VI and took to the stage in a stunning 1960s-inspired look.
Her striking white and silver-speckled outfit was cinched in at the waist with a wide belt and perfectly matched with silver stilettos and diamond earrings.
The tweed ensemble was classic Jackie O. The former first lady made the simple skirt-and-jacket suit famous throughout her time at the White House — her most memorable being the pink Chanel suit she was wearing when her husband John F Kennedy was assassinated in Texas in 1963.

Letizia greeted royal watchers on the red carpet outside the awards show before heading inside to deliver a speech and honour the award recipients, who were hailed for their work in science and business.
Letizia has long been regarded as one of the most stylish European royals, rivalled mainly by Princess Charlene of Monaco who favours eye-popping modern designer pieces.

The Spanish royal has made her mark in the country since marrying King Felipe in 2004. Letizia was a ‘commoner’ before she became engaged to Felipe and worked as a journalist for many years.
The couple have two daughters, Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía.
