Princess Mary shows off timeless style in tartan skirt and towering heels

She’s known for her impeccable style and elegance and Princess Mary didn’t disappoint in the fashion department as she attended an engagement in celebration of the United Nations (UN) International Day of Disabled Persons in Denmark on Monday.

The Australian-born princess looked gorgeous in a black, long-sleeve top which she paired with a pink tartan skirt. She rounded off the outfit with a pair of black heeled court shoes and wore her brunette locks out in soft waves.

International Day of Disabled Persons has been celebrated since 1992 and aims to raise awareness and promote the rights and well-being of those living with a disability.

The mother-of-four received much praise from royal fans who took to social media to acknowledge the princess for her meaningful work.

“Our amazing princess,” one person wrote on Facebook, while another added: “I’m proud of our princess. So beautiful and sweet Mary is.”

Meanwhile, it comes after the 46-year-old stepped out in a traditional and vibrant outfit during her visit to Kenya last week. Mary looked beautiful in the red and orange dress which was paired with a colourful necklace and traditional head piece.

Throughout her stay, Prince Frederik’s wife joined Danish Minister for Development Ulla Tørnæs in meeting with a number of organisations that work to improve the rights of girls and women.

The trip is the latest in a long line of similar visits throughout the world for Mary and Frederik.

Earlier this year, Mary undertook a solo tour of Finland’s west coast where she visited a number of local business and spoke about Denmark’s own progressive approach to environmentally friendly energy and urban planning.

The royal couple have been taking on increasing royal responsibilities in recent years as they prepare to ascend the throne. While there is no talk of Frederik’s mother Queen Margrethe II relinquishing her reign anytime soon, at 78, she is understandably winding back on her day-to-day duties.

Frederik’s father Prince Henrik died in February aged 83 after a short battle with with dementia. He had been in hospital for lung infection and a benign lung tumour and succumbed to his illness.

Although he had retired from royal duties years earlier, Henrik’s death sparked a movement of change within the royal family that saw Frederik and his brother Prince Joachim’s royal workloads increase.
