Melanie Griffith sparkles in a figure hugging dress on the red carpet

She’s one of the actresses over the age of 50 who has spoken out about ageing – and Melanie Griffith isn’t afraid to step out in style.

While many of us are critical of these actresses when they step out in something that wouldn’t be classified as age appropriate, Griffith has shown she couldn’t care less.

The 59-year-old actress has turned heads on the red carpet at the Dubai International Film Festival.

Griffith is at the festival to be awarded a humanitarian award for her charity work.

She walked the red carpet in a figure hugging sequin dress, sparkling alongside several other celebrities including Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

The mid-length Dolce & Gabanna dress was silver at the front and gold at the back.

Griffith styled the dress with a matching pair of slingback heels.

There’s been a lot of nasty things said about Griffith’s looks as she’s aged, with many people taking aim at the plastic surgery work she’s had done.

In an interview with the Daily Mail in 2012, she opened about being social media trolls mocking her looks.

“Most people are telling me I look horrible,” she said.

“The tweets I get are really nasty.”

She also told US Weekly about how she keeps her slender figure.

“I don’t know if I look that great,” she said.

“[But] I work out a lot. I have a trainer that I [work with] four times a week, and I do hot yoga.”

Good on her for being confident and showing off her looks all the same!

Are you a fan of her gorgeous dress? Do you think people are too critical of actresses’ looks as they grow older?
