Her former co-host Karl Stefanovic may be battling plummeting ratings on the Today show, but Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t be further from the stress of work and her former job as she continued to show off an array of gorgeous looks on her lavish holiday this week.
The Project star has returned to the Amalfi Coast exactly a year after she broke her wrist in the sunny vacation spot, leaving her in a cast for months and having to undergo rehab for the broken bones.
Celebrating a disaster-free trip this time round, the TV star, 58, has been keeping her fans up to date throughout her trip with husband Peter FitzSimons by sharing photos of everything from their luxurious day trips, to delicious meals out and her stunning summer dresses on social media.
Beginning the holiday in Paris at the end of last month, Lisa chose a flowing floral dress for a photo with her spouse, coupling the flattering look with a wide-brimmed hat and brown shoulder bag. The pair posed arm in arm in front of the Eiffel Tower and flashed beaming smiles together.
Favourite dress. Favourite husband. Favourite city (outside Australia of course!). Favourite 10 Euro hat. And that weirdo chemtrail sky. Oh Paris, you take my breath away every time… @canonaustralia #canonambassador#Paris #holiday #summer #chemtrails #EiffelTower #France #RiverSeine #travel #travelgram #travelphotographyPS. For those asking…the dress is @zara and the bag was a vintage @courreges find on @ebay. Best ten bucks I ever spent!Shoes are @superga_australia.
No doubt prepared for a day of walking, Lisa wore comfy white pumps and hid behind huge statement sunglasses in the snap.
From there, her followers were treated to a steady stream of photos from cafes and restaurants as the couple sampled some of the city’s delicacies before travelling on to Italy’s Amalfi Coast once again.
Admitting it brought back memories of her horror injury a year ago, Lisa wrote: “So almost a year ago, there I was: day two of our first trip together to Italy, getting ready to drive to the beautiful famed gardens of Ravello, high above the Amalfi Coast, when stupid me goes and falls over in the bathroom, smashes my wrist so it resembles an S-bend (hey, if you’re going to break some bones you may as well do it properly, right?)…and our holiday was suddenly, comprehensively and officially over.”
So almost a year ago, there I was: day two of our first trip together to Italy, getting ready to drive to the beautiful famed gardens of Ravello, high above the Amalfi Coast, when stupid me goes and falls over in the bathroom, smashes my wrist so it resembles an S-bend (hey, if you’re going to break some bones you may as well do it properly, right?)…and our holiday was suddenly, comprehensively and officially over. Well, with everything now pretty much back in working order, I finally made it to Ravello. And believe me, it was worth the wait. Stunning doesn’t even begin to do this slice of heaven justice… #Ravello #AmalfiCoast #Amalfi #Garden #gardens #travelgram #Italy #travel @canonaustralia
She quickly put the difficult memories to rest however, as she posed on some steps in a glamorous blue knee-length dress and casual brown patterned sandals. Proving she’s a natural in front of the camera, she laughed to her ‘photographer’ husband and held her signature hat in front of her.
Following that outfit, she transformed just a day later in a bright yellow summer dress, showing off her glowing tan after days in the blazing sunshine. The off-the-shoulder number clinched in at the waist showing off her figure, and she posed in front of a stunning backdrop from their balcony.
Lots of you have been asking about what I’ve been using to take all my travel pics on this trip…and for those who have been following me for a while and know my magazine background, you’ll know I’m a frustrated photographer from way back. Well, a few years ago the good people at @canonaustralia learnt of my photographic passion and we collaborated on my Inspiring Australian Women Portrait Exhibition – still one of the greatest thrills of my professional life to work with some of the most inspiring women in the country. And I’m excited to say we have another exhibition in the works on an issue that affects us all, set down for next year…so you won’t be surprised to know I’m taking all my pics (except for the selfies) on a zippy little Canon S120 with a great zoom lens 5xIS. Perfect for travelling. This pic however was taken by Pete on his iPhone… (He’s still learning god love ‘im.) #husbandsarethebest #canonphotography #amalficoast #amalfi #italy #travelphotography #holiday
Following speculation over how she was getting her beautiful holiday photos, Lisa solved the mystery by revealing she had mainly been using a Canon S120 with a zoom lens – but a few of the snaps, including her in yellow, were taken on Peter’s iPhone.
Finishing the holiday in style, the much-loved presenter ended her Instagram takeover in a lacy black dress as she once again posed in front of a sprawling backdrop.
Recalling how far she’s come since her injury, she wrote: “It has been amazing…particularly after last year’s disastrous attempt. I was determined not to let the whole episode get me down though, and knew that with patience, some titanium plates and a lot of rehab, my broken bones would eventually mend.”
And so farewell to the stunning Amalfi Coast. It has been amazing…particularly after last year’s disastrous attempt.I was determined not to let the whole episode get me down though, and knew that with patience, some titanium plates and a lot of rehab, my broken bones would eventually mend. So it was with that spirit (and a not insignificant amount of painkillers) Pete and I kept a booking we had for a very special dinner that night after I left the local hospital. So I thought I’d leave you with one of my favourite moments (of many) of THIS trip – lunch back at that very same restaurant @lesirenuse one year later. With bones unbroken!! Such a treat. And don’t even get me started on the view… #amalficoast #amalfi #positano #holiday #travelgram #travel #italy #lesirenuse #view #views #summer #lunch #southernitaly @canonaustralia
The end of her luxury holiday comes as her former morning show Today suffered its worst ratings in four years, according to the Herald Sun.
According to the report, Sunrise has won the most weeks of the ratings year – 22 out of 23 – across the five-city metro, with hosts Samantha Armytage and David ‘Kochie’ Koch taking over Stefanovic.
