He’s one of Australia’s favourite TV presenters and David ‘Kochie’ Koch was the face of this year’s Carols in the Domain, which aired on Channel 7 last night.

Along with an array of other popular TV personalities, Kochie took to the stage to get into the Christmas spirit.

While viewers are used to seeing the 61-year-old in a traditional suit for his hosting gig on Sunrise, he opted for a rather flamboyant number for the carols.

Ditching the black suit, the father-of-four opted for a colourful jacket.

The outrageous number featured a red and green floral pattern, which the star topped off with a bow tie.

He certainly stood out amongst his other hosts, including Mark Beretta, who opted for a white tux.

While an array of singers took to the stage to give their renditions of classic Christmas hits, it was Kochie’s outfit that gained a lot of social media attention.

Some people were loving the host’s eye-catching number and praised him for being daring with his choice of outfit.

One person wrote: “I actually like it Kochie … suits you.”

Another comment read: “You look good in it Koch. Happy holiday season to you and your family.”

A third fan said: “I absolutely love the jacket.

However, not everyone was impressed.

One Facebook user wrote: “Sorry Kochie. Your jacket reminds me of Christmas wrapping papers.”

Another said: “Clearly money, or the resources of Channel 7, can’t buy good taste.”

A further comment added: “Piece of art? That jacket looks horrible. You’ve clearly made a mistake.”

Still, Kochie seemed thrilled with his jacket and boasted about it on social media, adding that he was happily supporting an Aussie business.

“For those who are interested Joe Bananas Australia, whose jacket I’m wearing, is an Australian business which has been going for 30 years,” he wrote.

“It’s such a great success story in a really tough industry. Their secret is to be create and unique. Their clothes are like a piece of art.”

The Daily Mail reports that the jacket costs a cool $16,500.

What did you think of Kochie’s jacket? Would you wear something like this?
