Joan Collins wows at the BAFTAs

Some of your favourite over-60 celebs have turned out for the BAFTAs in London, and they’ve absolutely rocked the red carpet.

Leading the charge was Dame Joan Collins, who was one of the presenters on the night, and she was showing off her classic, timeless style.

Dressed from head to toe in sparkly silver, the 83-year-old actress was certainly a sight to behold.

She wore a long sparkly silver dress, with an open sheer silver sleeve. She finished the look off with a matching silver necklace and earrings and a pair of silver heels.

During an interview on the red carpet, Dame Joan made a few jokes about the terrible British weather.

“I have to tell you, it’s usually fabulous – now it’s hell,” she said.

“There’s wind, there’s rain, it’s turned freezing cold… it was really warm this morning.”

But Dame Joan wasn’t the only over-60 rocking the red carpet.

Joanna Lumley also put her best fashion foot forward, stepping out in a classy black and silver dress to collect her BAFTA Fellowship award.

During her acceptance speech, Lumley received a standing ovation and left the audience in stitches.

She spoke candidly about being an actress, describing herself as merely “a piece of cellophane laid over the industry”.

“I have done nothing. We as actors are dragged about in golden carriages which are laid on tracks over swamps at midnight by men in their underpants.” she said.

“We are lit and furnished with words and costumed and made up and are dressed. We have stunt performers to make us look better. We have people who drive us, who dress us. We have people who feed us. We have all this and we arrive and sometimes people say ‘you are so funny’ and you say ‘yes thanks’.

“It’s all somebody else and I’m hear to say this is, for me, paradise. I wanted to be with people who left race and religion and age and gender and shoe size and things outside the door when they came. People who are in our profession don’t have those discriminations. I wanted to be in this great circus, this fellowship.”

She paid tribute to her friend and Absolutely Fabulous co-star Jennifer Saunders as well.

“Jennifer, you write it. I just do it.” she said.

And in true Patsy from Ab Fab style she finished off with a “cheers sweeties, thanks a lot”.

Fellow over-60 actress Lesley Manville also looked gorgeous in a sheer black lace gown, casting an elegant figure on the red carpet.

And Kim Cattrall also looked lovely in a simple black jumpsuit with a classy white blazer.

Wow the over-60 ladies are certainly showing their style!
