Dame Helen Mirren debuts ‘cool, new haircut’ after braving the chop

Dame Helen Mirren is rarely seen with a hair out of place and the Hollywood icon revealed her “cool, new” hairstyle on Monday after visiting a high-end salon in the German capital of Berlin.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed her brand new modern look on Instagram as she posted a series of shots from her day out with friends in the European city.

Helen, 72, appeared to have braved a much shorter look as she showed off her newly-cropped silver locks on social media, having opted for a more rounded style with a full fringe, rather than the choppier-style sweeping fringe she usually sports.

As always, the Winchester star looked effortlessly stylish in a white, belted tunic top as she held hands with the hairstylist responsible for her new look outside of his salon, as she joked that the pair looked like they were “getting married” in the snap.

The Calendar Girls actress then showed off her new do as she did some shopping at a second-hand market, where she tucked into a traditional German meal of a bratwurst, which she described as her “favourite”.

Dame Helen accessorised her casual look for a day of shopping with a pair of oversized black sunglasses and a pair of classic drop earrings, finishing it off with a coat of classic red lipstick.

The stunning star recently revealed that she had undergone a cosmetic procedure to enhance her good looks, admitting that having her eyebrows tattooed on had made a “huge difference” to her appearance.

She told Women & Home magazine in the UK: “I was fed up of my brows barely being there, and when one of my girlfriends got it done, I thought they looked great. “They’re very lightly and delicately done, but it means that when I get up in the morning and I have no make-up on, at least I have eyebrows! It’s made a huge difference.”
