Melting icy poles and sticky fingers go hand in hand, but there is an easy way to prevent much of the mess

If you want to keep the grandkids from getting sticky fingers while eating icy poles think about pattycakes.

No, you don’t have to whip up a bunch of fairy cakes to keep them happy instead.

Instead, dig out your pattycake liners, then carefully push the icy pole stick through the base.

The drips will catch in the liner instead of running down the stick, at the same time keeping off little fingers.

Hopefully this means less sticky fingers on you too.

If you have patterned or coloured pattycake liners you can get the kids involved in choosing one, which can encourage them to want to use them every time.
