Simple hack to make your winter rugs safer

Winter has well and truly set in over much of Australia, which means heaters are on, hearty soups are bubbling away, and we’re looking for any way to stay warm.

If you have floorboards or a tiled floor in your house, winter often means bringing out the rugs to help keep in the heat and make the house cosier and warmer on your feet. And anyone with rugs placed throughout their home knows that means far more opportunities to trip over! Those pesky corners always seem to lift up to trip you at the most inopportune times – like when you’re carrying a cup of coffee or a glass of red wine to the couch to relax.

There is a super simple way to avoid this though, and it’s inexpensive and will only take a few minutes to have your house safe to walk through for the rest of the cold season.

All you need to fix up this annoying, and potentially dangerous issue is some adhesive velcro!

Simply cut the velcro to short lengths and stick one side to the underside corners of the rug, and the other side to the floor beneath. Repeat for each corner, especially in high traffic areas. Not only will it prevent tripping, but it will stop the rug from slipping out of place, which is great if you’re a person who likes things lined up and positioned ‘just so’.
