Widow ‘left penniless after spending $159k on Sri Lankan toy boy husband’

A widow has admitted she feels “stupid” after spending £90,000 (AU$159K) on her toy boy husband – who was shockingly murdered just a few short years after she moved abroad to set up home with him.

Brit woman Diane De Zoysa, 60, from Edinburgh, met 26-year-old Priyanjana De Zoysa while on holiday in Sri Lanka seven years ago – before marrying him seven months later, the Daily Record reports.

According to the news outlet, she then made the drastic decision to sell her home two years ago and used the funds to build a house for her and her younger husband in his own country.

Shockingly, the news outlet reports Priyanjana was shot and killed last year after blackmailers learned he had come into money – leaving Diane in debt, having given away her entire life savings to the marriage.

Following his death, it’s claimed Diane became suspicious that he had married someone else – a local teenager – behind her back, but was unable to return home to seek comfort from her own family following the huge deception.

Instead, she claimed her husband’s relatives refused to help her sell the house there and even made her feel like a “prisoner”.

Now, having finally returned home, she told the news outlet: “I just couldn’t stay there any longer. I kind of feel stupid now that I didn’t listen to my family and my friends because they said it was just about the money.

“I thought he did really love me but obviously he didn’t.”

On top of the money she paid for their home together, Diane also claimed she paid £31,000 for a new minibus for Priyanjana.

Diane previously told the Record she feared she would die in Sri Lanka after suffering a string of medical complaints. However, she has since landed safely home in Scotland.

Sadly she’s not alone, and another retired woman, Aussie Jan Marshall, revealed her devastation recently after giving away her entire life savings to a man she thought was in love with her – leaving her a “poor pensioner”.
