The sweet moment two brothers are reunited after many months apart has sent the internet into meltdown with people young and old holding back tears as they witness the love shared between siblings.
The special bond of Sam, who has Down syndrome, and Jack has touched the lives of many who watched the heartwarming meeting of the pair during an episode of the television show The Specials.
Shared on YouTube, the video follows the journey of Sam, and his visit to Windsor Castle to see his brother who joined the army and now works as one of the Queen’s guards.
The footage first begins as Sam is being guided to the entrance of the castle by members of the army.
“My brother joined the army a year ago, but this is the first time I am seeing him in action,” Sam is heard saying as he proudly watches Jack with a big smile on his face.
After being told Jack will not be able to speak to acknowledge him while he’s standing guard, Sam excitedly runs forward to pose beside his brother for a photo. He got a bit of a fright when Jack stomped his foot and repositioned his gun, as is usual for the Queen’s guards, but was couldn’t wipe the smile off his face as he watched his brother at work.
Sam was then taken for a special tour of the area where the guardsmen, including his brother, live. It is here that eyes will start watering, as Sam catches a glimpse of Jack and runs to embrace him.
The two share a big bear hug, with Jack lifting Sam off the ground. “I miss you,” Sam is heard telling his beloved brother.
While the episode first aired last year, it has since resurfaced online and once again grabbed the attention of people across the globe with many leaving heartfelt comments.
“This was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen on YouTube, the bond of brothers is something special for sure,” one person wrote.
“Oh bless his heart, what a lovely little fella, well done to his brother, one for joining the guards and two for being a loving brother,” another added.
While a third said: “We need more of this kind of stuff in the world”.
The video is just one of many filmed as part of the British television series The Specials, which follows the journey of five friends with intellectual disabilities. Initially created as a web series, the show quickly gained popularity and reached television screens across the UK.
It has gained much praise over the years for its honest insight into the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities and the independent living options many of them thrive under.
