You can always count on children to be honest!

Having a child or grandchild who is just learning to write can be a hilarious experience. Whether they’re struggling to get the words out properly or being brutally honest with their stories, it’s usually enough to put a smile on anyone’s face.

That’s exactly what happened when American actor Rob Delaney received a poem from his five-year-old son. Taking to Twitter, the Catastrophe actor shared an image of his son’s poem – which has since gone viral.

“The cat is a cat,” the deadpan poem began. “Dogs barck and woof [sic].”

It was what he said about his dad that got the internet laughing.

“My dad poos every morning,” the child wrote.

Clearly impressed with his son’s work of art, 41-year-old Delaney shared the image online.

“My 5 year old son wrote an incredibly moving poem this morning,” he captioned the photo.

The original photo has been retweeted more than 1,600 times and liked more than 25,500 since going live on Saturday.

Fans have been quick to get on the joke, labelling Delaney’s poem as “bowel moving” and a “haipoo”, a play on words of a haiku poem.

One person wrote: “Explain to him that while that poem is good, poetry is not a logical career choice. Signed daughter and granddaughter of many poets.”

Another person was quick to share their own horror poo story.

“Beautiful! When our daughter was four we took her to a puppet show at the library,” the wrote. “When they asked if anyone had questions she raised her hand and said, ‘My daddy poops on the potty, every day.’ Thirty seconds later my husband returned from the bathroom to gales of laughter.”

A third joked: “I’m glad he didn’t draw a picture.”

It’s not just grandchildren and children making the world smile with their hilarious art fails. Earlier this year, a grandmother went viral after knitting a very inappropriate shark blanket for her grandson. A photograph of a very unimpressed child wearing a shark blanket had the world laughing.

Complete with a tail, teeth and frightening eyes, the grandmother wanted to ensure the shark looked like the real thing and added a fin to the blanket. When placed over the little boy, people across the internet were quick to point out that the fin didn’t look like a fin at all, but rather something a little more X-rated. We’ll leave it up to you to decide what it actually looks like.
