Never be left wondering what that plant was again

You can easily use your phone to find out what that flower is.

Have you ever been leisurely strolling through a garden and wondered what that plant was? Spotted a lovely flower and want to know what it is called? If you have designs on finding the plant so you can get one for your own garden, the name might be important.

If you happen to have a smartphone in your reach, you could very well get yourself the answer.

You could try taking a photo of it and posting it on a gardening lovers site, and there will be someone there that will offer then answer.  However there is an even easier way. You can simply download an app.

Pl@ntNet is one app that can help. Available for both iOS and Android phones, the idea is that you take a photo of the plant in question and it will search through its database and see if it will come up with a match.

Although it was developed in France it can be used in many countries all over the world. You can pick the region you are in, to help get a more accurate result.

It uses visual recognition software to help with identification, and as more data is introduced, more plants will be identifiable.

Another app is My Garden Answers. Also available in both iOS and Android formats, this one helps you identify plans in the same way as Pl@ntNet. This one can also help answer any questions you may have on the plant, guide you on how to best look after it and assist with problems with pests.
