More baby boomer singles are doing this than ever before, would you take a leap of faith?

Meeting someone organically like in the movies is all very well but in the real world it can be a challenge and often result in heartbreak when you discover that you aren’t as compatible as you initially thought. With this in mind, technology has advanced rapidly and there are a vast number of online dating sites available to all ages.

A recent study conducted by Pew Research Centre found that the percentage of people using online dating, aged 55-64 has doubled from 6% in 2013 to 12% in 2015.

Within that 12% of people the majority said they used websites rather than phone apps.

According to the research, 21% of 65+ aged people know someone who uses an online dating site and 20% of them know someone who has found a long term relationship from an online dating site.

Dating when you are 60 is very different to what it was like when you were in your 20’s. It can be scary and exciting and everything in between.

Try joining new groups or volunteer and you will find yourself surrounded by like minded individuals of both genders. You will find your confidence begin to build and this can be a better aphrodisiac than any miracle pill.

Probably the best advice is to not get overly attached to the first man or woman who you have a good interaction with. Approaching each situation with a lightness of heart and a sense of humour is critical.
