Lifehacks

We all carry plenty of keys with us – whether it’s our car keys, house keys, or even keys for our workplace or relative’s house.

One of the burdens of carrying all our keys together is that it’s very easy to get them confused.

How many of you have tried to open your front door with your car keys? Or another key to your home?

It can get confusing with all those keys on there!

Luckily, there is a solution to this problem – and it doesn’t involve putting your keys on separate key chains.

Instead, all you need is a few different bottles of coloured nail polish.

That’s right, this lifehack is super easy.

You can colour code your keys by painting the end of the key (the end you hold) with nail polish.

Why not colour your house keys in a sparkly pink? Or your back door key in a nice red?

Provided you remember what each colour unlocks, it’ll make your life so much easier!

Alternatively you could always try paint or a permanent marker if you don’t have any nail polish handy.

Remember to let the keys dry before you attempt to use them!

Have you ever tried this lifehack before?

  1. This is what I call clever …. So much easier and cheaper to buy a packet of different coloured rubber key rings to attach to each key.

I have been marking things with nail polish for years. I would have a colour for all my work stuff. It was easier to ask if anyone had a stapler with blue nailpolish on it. Always marked my keys. Wrote my name on the bottom of my cup in nail polish. It wasn’t just for those light fingered colleagues, I found it easier to find and gather all my stuff. I also tended to leave it lying around. All the coloured nailpolish is great and so cheap – of you can use it on your nails as well!!
I still have nailpolish next to my computer – just in case. I now mark my thumb drives

I have all my house keys keyed-alike, so there’s only one key to fit all doors – so much easier, and there’s no fiddling around trying to find the right key for the lock when you have lots of bags in your hands. I now only have 4 items on my key ring – fob for car remote, car key, house key & letter box key. So much easier & lighter. The tag on my key ring is printed with my name on a purple sticker, printed 2 of them, stuck them together, then cut out the sticker and put it into a key ring maker. So much cheaper than purchasing them already pre-printed 🙂
