When a cut avocado goes brown, it can be very frustrating and often a waste… but with this trick you won’t need to worry!

All you need is:

  • A large pot of boiling water
  • A slotted spoon
  • A bowl of cold water and ice cubes
  • Your avocado

Here’s what to do:

  1. Put your cut, ripe avocado half into a pan of rapidly boiling water.
  2. Leave the avocado in the water for exactly 10 seconds, no more or no less.
  3. At exactly 10 seconds, put the avocado into the bowl of ice-cold water and ice cubes with a slotted spoon to stop the avocado from continuing to cook.
  4. Leave to cool completely then remove from the water and dry with paper towel.
  5. Place in the fridge – the avocado half should stay green for a day or so longer.
  1. Cut it with a plastic knife, squeeze lemon on it ( if you manage to save half of it that is)

  2. If only using half avocado leave seed in and place the skin of the other half to cover it, then put in freezer bag or wrap in glad wrap, it will keep for up to 2 days……..

  3. Hardly worth the effort, horrible fruit. By the way, don’t give any to your dog, it’s poison to them.

    • Never heard of this I’ve seen dogs that live on avo farms they usually have the shiniest coat you’ve ever seen

    • I have a better way, put it in an old pair of panty hose, let sit in a mixture of vinegar and baking soda for an hour then remove and swing around your head 5 times, no more brown.

  4. To stop an avocado from going brown. Just eat the whole thing.
