Is he really the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’?

It’s that time of the year again with People magazine choose their “Sexiest Man Alive”, and this year they hit Rock Bottom on purpose!

This year the “Sexiest Man Alive” is the actor and professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson made a name for himself in professional wrestling in the late 90s. He worked for World Wrestling Entertainment, a global entertainment juggernaut that used to be called the WWF before legal battles with the World Wildlife Fund made them change their name.

Johnson, then known only as The Rock, was one of the biggest superstars in professional wrestling taking the mantel that was held by Hulk Hogan for the 1980s and early 90s. Knowing that the life of a professional athlete is a short one, Johnson used his experience entertaining wrestling fans and started transitioning to films and TV. His first big break was the role of The Scorpion King in the sequel to The Mummy.

Since then Johnson has starred in many films that have rocked, we can’t help the puns, the box offices all over the world including the Fast and the Furious films which will see him sharing the screen with Helen Mirren soon.

He occasionally reappears in the wrestling ring making at the yearly appearance at the biggest wrestling show in the world WrestleMania. Johnson’s next film for Disney has him as the voice of Maui in the new epic Moana. When asked by eOnline about his selection as “Sexiest Man”, Johnson said “I said, ‘That’s awesome.’ And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is”. He concluded, “And then I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all; this is it.”

With talent like that possessed by Johnson, this certainly won’t be “it.”
