Helen Mirren talks about pressures children face

Helen Mirren talks about her wardrobe as a child and the pressures on children these days over what they wear and how they look.

Remember your wardrobe as a kid?

Now, compare it to the wardrobes your grandkids have these days and you’ll be able to see a big difference.

The pressures on kids to look and dress a certain way have attracted the attention of Dame Helen Mirren, and you might find yourself nodding in agreement with what she had to say.

She spoke to The Mail on Sunday about the issue, comparing her childhood to the kids of today.

“My sister and I were talking about it the other day. I said, “Can you believe how we grew up, Kate, and the difference with the world now?” Dame Helen said.

“She said ‘Yes, we had our school uniform and one dress, and I am so grateful for that’.”

“It must be so difficult for kids nowadays with the attention on what you are wearing and how you look and what bag you are carrying.”

Many of us would be able to relate to not having the giant wardrobes full of clothes that our grandkids do.

After all, a lot of us, like Dame Helen would have had just a few school uniforms, a good dress for church or social outings and our basic play clothes.

Do you agree with what Dame Helen says? Are kids under too much pressure these days over what they wear and how they look?
