Looking back at Tube Furniture

Long before there was the mass appeal of IKEA there was a fade in the 70s that really brought the Do-It-Yourself furniture and it was done with plastic tubes.

The catalogue description of Tube Furniture reads like this:

“Casual living goes with this decorative furniture of sleek one and five-eighth inch diameter tubes, connectors. Stain and mar resistant. Rugged black styrene table tops, shelves. Button-tufted cushions are fabric-supported wet-look vinyl, filled with urethane foam. Occasional table to use as an end table or lamp table. Chair is a lounger, sink into this comfortably cushioned chair and relax. Magazine rack has vinyl sling holder. Ottoman can be used as a soft-cushioned seat or footrest. Comes in black or yellow.”

It might sound like modern day outside furniture but this was proudly in houses all around the world.
