There’s a good chance you’re seeing puzzles like this every other week on your Facebook feed: a maths challenge, hidden objects game or logic conundrum that will spark plenty of healthy debate.

The latest popular puzzle to go viral comes courtesy of the Sales-Fiction Facebook page, which sparked thousands upon thousands of entertaining comments with this head-scratcher.

Some solved it in seconds. Some found it an entertaining challenge. Others argued out that it didn’t have much to do with IQ or intelligence at all.

Love it or hate it, the challenge awaits. How quickly can you solve it?

Scroll down for the solution:

This is not a maths problem so much as a game of patterns. Each “total” is really three numbers strung together: the two numbers multiplied, added, and subtracted.

8 x 2 = 16
8 + 2 = 10
8 – 2 = 6

= 16106

How quickly did you solve this? Is is worthy of the “High IQ Intelligence Test” name, or just a bit of fun?

Yeah, not a brain stretcher.

3. Truth 13

Is that a high IQ intelligence test ?. I just went through, without any problem. If someone can’t work it out, how to do it, it has to be a bloody fool. I don’t classify it as “High Intelligence test”.

4. Heather

I’m not mathematically inclined & I solved it very quickly – maybe it’s the pattern of it.

5. Frank

basic arithmetic – not high IQ stuff – unless you mean higher than 70 …

6. Jeff

Very simple. Two seconds.

7. Roy Gavin

Sounds like it originated on facebook – so it would be a VERY difficult question for almost everybody on there!

• Denis

It did Roy LOL and it was just as easy there – good pick up.

8. Pamela

What an intelligent lot we are, people!! 🙂

Oops !!! You’ve just found a “bloody fool” here Truth 13. I’ve honestly got absolutely no idea how to solve this puzzle. Funny isn’t it, as over the years I’ve had consistent IQ results between 160 and 173 … oh gawd, obviously getting older doesn’t necessarily mean getting wiser.
Well anyway, congratulations to you clever dicks and you should all feel rightfully proud of your smug selves.

• Kari

Don’t worry Guy, true intelligence comes from the heart and soul, not the physical brain alone. Happy feeling!
