An offhanded joke made by retired footballer and television presenter Wally Lewis has labelled as “crude”, “crass” and “sexist.”
In light of last night, I'd be distancing myself from the support of Wally Lewis https://t.co/m2tG4HlbN6

The joke was featured in a comedy segment of Channel Nine’s The Footy Show entitled Joking Off. Lewis was in the segment with Jillaroos player Alana Ferguson when she said she was going to do the next question “without teeth.” Lewis said quickly, “It always feels better that way”, subtly referring to a sexual act.
Shortly after the segment, which aired after 9 PM, complaints started to rain in with some even called for Lewis to be “sacked.” Other’s online came to his defence.
I love a good outrage as much as the next person but this Wally Lewis thing from last night is ridiculous

Some other’s took the time to mock those outraged and mock the show at the same time.
Outrage from footy show viewers as they both complain about a Wally Lewis sex joke!

Completely outraged by the #wallylewis joke. Surprised I could summon the courage to go to work. Not what I expect from a classy show.
