Crystal Gayle shows she still has the magic, 40 years on

Crystal Gayle performing in 2011.

It has been 40 years since Crystal Gayle had the big hit Don’t It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue.

It scored her a Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and made her album go platinum, a first for a female country music artist.

But the 66-year-old star, who had 20 No 1 singles including I’ll Get Over You, is not finding it time to hand up the microphone just yet.

Instead she is heading off on a tour of the US, and bringing out a new album to boot.

Also famous for her nearly floor-length hair, Gayle was voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine in 1983.

It’s pretty clear she is still as beautiful today.

Gayle has been in the media this year, but not for reasons she would like.

She was asking for people to pray for singing superstar sister Loretta Lynn, after Lynn had a stroke.

While Lynn is still in rehabilitation the family have said she is expected to have a full recovery.

Even better, while doctors have told her to stay off the road to recover Lynn is still going to be performing in September at an event at her Tennessee ranch.

Do you remember when Don’t It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue was released?
