Could you retire in this house?

Have you ever had the freedom to build something like this floating home called Freedom Cove?

When it comes to building your dream home, what would you imagine it would be?

For some it is to buy a home already built, and maybe do a renovation or two. For others it is to buy a block of land and build from scratch.

One Canadian couple obviously have a great imagination and did neither of those things. Wayne Adams, now 69, and his wife, Catherine King, age 61, live on a floating home near Vancouver Island.

They starting building their dream home 25 year ago, named it Freedom Cove, and continue to add, modify and repair as they go. Rather than a standard style house they have created a whole village feel with gardens (including four greenhouses), a dance floor, and a garage for their boats. There is no need for cars as there is no roads to get there.

They rarely make trips to land, relying on being self sufficient. Using solar energy and generators for power, the couple rely on a fresh water system Wayne constructed. Everything is hand made.

They describe it as a large installation art piece that looks different every year,  and you can see why.

It even has its own lighthouse.

You can watch the video and see for yourself what their ‘dream’ life is like.

Is this your dream home, or more like a nightmare?
