Colin Firth outshone by glamorous wife on red carpet

Colin Firth’ reputation as a heartthrob was cemented when he played his career-making role as Mr Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride an Prejudice.

However, at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2017 on Sunday night, it was his wife that was making people swoon.

Livia Firth hit the red carpet wearing a red silk dress and electric-blue cut out shoes. She accessorised the bold look with a pair of large, crystal earrings and a matching electric blue clutch bag.

The 48-year-old founder of sustainability consultancy Eco Age looked sultry with smoky eye make-up and red lipstick.

Livia and Colin have been married for over 20 years and often accompany each other to events.

Colin Firth looked dapper in a fitted tuxedo with a bow tie. He donned his signature thick-rimmed glasses and looked content holding his wife close.

Another star who stunned onlookers with a pretty ensemble was Australian actress Cate Blanchett.

Blanchett wore a light pink knit top with intricate beading and a romantic light-pink silk skirt.

The skirt was gathered in large ruffles and the knit featured a spring flower design. The star accessorised her look with a pair of simple studs and a few sparkling rings.

She wore her hair in a side-swept bob and natural-looking make-up.
