Getting married is such an exciting time and going on a honeymoon is one of the best traditions! The couple get to celebrate being united and madly in love by travelling somewhere special in the world together. Where did you go on your honeymoon?

The tradition of having a “honeymoon” is believed to date back to the 5th century, when newlywed couples would drink mead (the ‘honey’) for the duration of the first moon of their marriage.

The modern idea of a honeymoon is to take a relaxing holiday, but this was not always the case. In the 19th century it was common for couples to take a ‘bridal tour’ after their marriage, which involved visiting family and friends who were unable to come to the wedding ceremony.
