What time do you wake up each morning?

For some of us rising early in the morning can be a real struggle and yet for others it’s a piece of cake. What time do you wake each morning?

‘Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise’, or so said Benjamin Franklin. Franklin wasn’t the only high achiever to rise early. Have you noticed a lot of successful people (CEOs) tend to wake up early?  There have been a variety of studies that examined the daily schedules of CEOs and interestingly a common pattern was the time they wake each morning – 6am is good but 5am is better.

If you have a consistent wake up time, you’ll be more alert and have a stress-free mornings, leaving you in a calm and centred state. Would you consider yourself to be an early riser?

Waking at the same time every day can help set your circadian rhythm (fancy term for body clock). Your body will naturally become tired at the same time every night. Having a steady circadian rhythm is a great thing, because you’ll get to be more productive during the day. For instance, we all know how awful it is to wake up late and rush to work or an appointment without having a chance to having breaky! This kind of hectic morning can leave you feeling ‘off’ all day. If you get up when your alarm goes off, you’ll be able to carry out your morning routine and have a nice calm and productive day.

Even if you’re retired, it is still important to set an alarm each and every day. You’ll sleep better, have more productive days and actually have less need to sleep in because you’ll be getting the right amount of sleep.
